We believe in providing high-quality, American-made products from solid wood. Fly By Night is the only maker of home furniture who provides local households with beautiful, durable and well-built furnishings styled and scaled exclusively for Western New England. We are guided by our commitment to sustainability, local commerce, and equitable support for all of our employees.

Fly By Night designs and builds our own contemporary bedroom and furniture from local hardwoods, and we specialize in colorful, clean-lined upholstery from the USA and Europe. Today, we provide customers with a mix of special order and in-stock merchandise, customized and selected for the New England home.

We now occupy a 24,000 square foot showroom in historic downtown Northampton. Dedicated to treating all our customers with respect and kindness, we’re big enough to design and source our own premium products, but small enough to remain a staple of our local community.

Beginning with a van and vending permit

Fly By Night was founded over 30 years ago with a van and a street vendor’s permit, selling handmade futons along the sidewalk and delivering them in a classic VW van. Since then, Fly By Night has grown to become the preeminent furniture store in Western Massachusetts, connected by a network of artisans around the country.

Our First Store on State Street in the Early 90's

This is our original little storefront in Downtown Northampton. It was a major step up from being street vendors. Back in those days, Northampton had five futon stores and two furniture stores. Now we are the only one remaining.
